Valli O’Reilly is the makeup artist of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. She had the hard job of having to recreate how the characters look. First of all it is a Tim Burton movie and all of his work is reconizable so she had to work that into what the characters look like. So Tim Burton had her watch old Bette Davis films for inspiration. For example the Red queen was inspired but Queen Elizabeth. She also go inspiration from Margaret Keane. She was inspired by how she had painted her eyes.
